2022
(Last year of the 100+ year old plot on its own - young vines will be incorporated next year.)"A perfumed and broad-ranging nose features notes of plum, dark cherry, exotic tea and a whiff of crushed fennel. The succulent, even suave, but impressively punchy larger-bodied flavors display first-rate power and drive on the stony, balanced and very clearly built-to-age finale. This is always one of my favorite wines chez Lafarge as it often seems underappreciated relative to the Volnay 1ers that routinely receive top billing. If you have the patience, this is potentially sensational.' - Sweet Spot Outstanding, Burghound

"A pungent nose is comprised by wood toast and firm reduction. Much more interesting are the impressively dense and sappy larger-bodied flavors that possess both excellent power and volume, all wrapped in a beautifully long and balanced finale. Like several wines in the range, this is on the oaky side but the mid-palate density appears to be present for it to be successfully integrated with time in bottle. Lovely potential." - Outstanding, Burghound

2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er En Cailleret
From a 0.65 hectare parcel near the top of the slope south of the village, of which the upper part is the steepest vineyard in Chassagne. Vines planted 1985-1990. Aged 15 months in 228 and 350 L oak barrels, 35% new. ---- "A mild suggestion of the exotic can be found on the aromas of white peach, wet stone, honeysuckle and a hint of spice. There is better underlying tension to the more detailed and markedly more mineral-driven flavors that are quite sleek before culminating in a sneaky long, balanced and dry-in-the-best sense finale. Lovely and one to consider." - Outstanding, Burghound ---- "A faint lime green touch in the colour. The bouquet has a chiselled mineral quality, along with a touch of positive reduction as well. Strict on the limestone with an excellent intensity without any heaviness, perfectly judged. Delicately ripe finish. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Oct 2023." - 4/5 stars, Jasper Morris MW

2020 Chassagne-Montrachet
"This is also sufficiently ripe to partially display fruit from the yellow side of the spectrum along with spice, citrus confit and floral scents. The rich and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors are at once succulent yet nicely detailed while delivering impressive persistence on the balanced and youthfully austere finale. Once again, more depth would be beneficial but again, that should reasonably occur. In a word, lovely." - 92pts/Outstanding, Burghound
2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Les Caillerets
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Les Caillerets ---- "A spicier nose freely reveals its aromas of both white and yellow peach and a whiff of jasmine tea. Here too there is very good mid-palate density to the medium weight flavors that aren't quite as powerful though they are finer and more mineral-driven as well on the youthfully austere, more complex and slightly more persistent finish. Lovely and I especially like the balance that should permit this to age gracefully over the next decade." - Outstanding, Burghound
2019 1er Chassagne-Montrachet
1er Chassagne-Montrachet - "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with grilled walnut and light smoky scents hovering in the background. The palate has a creamy opening: vanilla, chestnut and touches of white chocolate, but discrete segueing into a delightful, spicy finish. This is drinking beautifully now, even if it needs a few more months to subsume the oak, but it will keep for another decade." - Vinous & Outstanding, Burghound

2018 1er Cru Blagny Sous le Dos d'Ane
1er Cru Blagny Sous le Dos d'Ane ---- "The 2018 Meursault-Blagny Sous Le Dos d'Ane 1er Cru has a feistier bouquet than the Clos des Mouches Blanc. Quite energetic and tensile, with lovely purity, yellow fruit and hints of peppermint that come through alongside wild fennel. There is a "noble reduction" at play here. The palate is well balanced with a pleasing sappiness on the entry. Fine weight, harmonious with impressive acidity, I admire its gentle build. Definitely worth seeking out. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting." - 93pts Vinous

2022 Chassagne-Montrachet
Archaeological findings confirm the ancient village of Chassagne used to be occupied by a Roman society. The Romans planted the vines and built the city, hence the name "Romanée." From a 0.81 hectare parcel of vines planted in 1957 at a higher altitude of Chassagne, protected from the north wind by a stand of trees. Aged 15 months in 228 and 350 L oak barrels, 35% new. ---- "Here too there is the barest suggestion of the exotic lurking in the background of more floral-suffused aromas of Granny Smith apple, spice and a similar hint of wet stone. The middleweight flavors are not as concentrated but they are noticeably finer, particularly on the overtly stony, chiseled, youthfully austere and superbly long finale. This excellent effort will also need to develop more depth but that should merely be a matter of exercising a bit of patience." - Sweet Spot Outstanding, Burghound ---- "Mid lemon yellow. The bouquet shows an extra degree of ripe fruit, and a little less the limestone freshness of Caillerets. This is more backward, with an additional intensity, significantly so. Grows across the palate, still fresh limestone to finish, but with an extra éclat. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Oct 2023." - 4/5 stars, Jasper Morris MW
