1er Cru Les Jarollieres ---- "This is also beautifully layered with its ripe and equally fresh nose reflects notes of roasted purple fruit, warm earth and an unusual hint of hoisin. The succulent, round and relatively refined flavors possess fine mid-palate volume along with a similar taut muscularity before terminating in a youthfully austere finish that is shaped by a very firm tannic spine. Archaeological findings confirm the ancient village of Chassagne used to be occupied by a Roman society. The Romans planted the vines and built the city, hence the name "Romanée." From a 0.81 hectare parcel of vines planted in 1957 at a higher altitude of Chassagne, protected from the north wind by a stand of trees. Aged 15 months in 228 and 350 L oak barrels, 35% new.
