Located just southwest of the commune of Chablis, Irancy boasts an unusual topography: it lies in the hollow of a valley whose slopes (covered primarily with vines and cherry trees) protect it from harsh weather of its northern climes. Its geographical location, on the right bank of the Yonne River, also provides good moisture from morning mists. Fortuitously the region does claim adequate sunshine for full ripening. Irancy is a natural ampitheater and a unique winegrowing environment.

A Pinot noir made from manually-harvested grapes which undergo a spontaneous fermentation in open wooden barrels. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrique. This Pinot displays a deep red fruity flavour with a complex character; fine and delicate and possessing the Burgundian capability of being able to develop further from year to year. Unfiltered.

2010 The Uncarved Block
The Uncarved Block Deviously intoned burlesque red. Ripe Montmorency cherries and Crimson roses greet you at the threshold - nostrils flare. Heady aromas of freshly pitted pie cherries, cinnamon, baking spice and Darjeeling tea are supported by a lithe and ever maneuvering body. Restraint and control are ever present, however the palate is transcendent through layers of fruit expression and stem tannins within the firm garter of acidity. - Amalie Robert Estate Tasting Notes
