Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge ---- "A lovely plot to work says Marjolaine, providing an ethereal style of pinot. Certainly, there is nothing massive, even less brutish, about this. Instead, a charming light raspberry perfume, all in finesse. There is that tensile thread here, that speaks of high quality, in this fine and understated wine with impressive persistence. "Here the nose is displaying some post-bottling reduction so give it some air if you're going to try a bottle young. More interesting are the succulent and round yet decidedly powerful medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that helps to buffer the notably firmer tannic spine shaping the lengthy finish. This is also quite good though note that it will need at least a few years of keeping first." - 91pts/Outstanding, Burghound ---- "Just a little bit more intense in purple but not much. The fruit is balanced and at the perfect pitch of ripeness. Much more powerful on the palate with some black cherry notes as well as a little red fruit, mix of tannins and acidity, neither too prominent. "Slightly riper aromas are comprised by notes of poached plum, dark raspberry, pepper and a pretty floral hint that are trimmed in subtle wood influence. There is fine volume, detail and underlying tension to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the dusty and chalky finish that displays a bit more rusticity. While qualitatively similar to the Les Chambres, these offer two quite different expressions." - Outstanding, Burghound
