"There are only 300 bottles of the 2021 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, but the wine has turned out superbly, mingling aromas of citrus zest, clear honey, white flowers, wet stones, freshly baked bread and iodine in a classically Chablisien bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, deep and chalky, with prodigious reserves of dry extract, racy acids and a long, saline finish, anyone lucky enough to taste it will be delighted." - 95pts WA

"This is a Chablis to serve at a slightly warmer temperature as it really opened up over the hour it sat in the glass. Its initially floral aromas add a lightly earthy and chalky note as the wine warms. Pomelo, yellow current and white raspberries all surface, too. The palate is delicate and feathery, making this one of the more airy, elegant Preuses of the vintage. Will be approachable reasonably young." - 94pts Tim Atkin

"Billaud noted that this will have about 20% wood in the final blend. Here too there is a vague whiff of the exotic to the aromas of passion fruit, white peach, mineral reduction and shrimp shell scents. There is again very good density to the intense big-bodied flavors that possess a caressing but muscular finish that coats the palate. There is borderline painful intensity to the dense, sappy and markedly stony flavors that conclude in a strikingly long, moderately dry and well-balanced finale. "Lovely density and richness, with a nose showing ripe apricots, a hint of lemon peel and just a bit of butter. The texture is creamy and dense but not lacking in tension. Regal, substantial, but always elegant. This is made with the white grapes from the Senard monopole of the Clos des Meix, now biodynamically farmed. It is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Beurrot (Pinot Gris). The wine is rather quickly pressed and vinified without sulphur until the malolactic fermentation is complete. Ageing is in 350-litre casks (half new)." - 96pts, Charles Curtis MW

"Relatively strong reduction dominates the nose at present and prevents a thorough assessment. By contrast, there is good freshness and ample verve to the exceptionally rich, powerful and borderline massive flavors that enjoy support in the form of a very concentrated mid-palate and a notably firm tannic spine that imparts a chewy texture to the hugely long, mouth coating and tannic finish. This is breathtakingly good though like any self-respecting Clos du Roi, to note that it will need plenty of bottle age is largely superfluous.' - 92-95pts BH

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ---- "Slightly cooler, earthier and more sauvage-inflected aromas include those of black raspberry, discreet wood and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent delineation and verve to the bigger-bodied and more mineral-driven flavors that, somewhat surprisingly, aren't quite as dense though they are both longer and more powerful on the moderately austere finale.
