2004
"A densely fruited and superbly complex nose of spice, earth, ripe red fruit aromas, leather and underbrush leads to rich, supple, elegant and pure flavors where the structure arrives all at once on the seriously long finish. This is not a big Bèze by the usual Rousseau standards yet the explosive finish and outstanding depth suggest that this will age well and hold for much longer." - 93pts BH ---- "Looks if anything less blue than most other vintages. Pretty complete and rich on the nose for a 2004! Most impressive... Very fruity and dense and exciting. Really lively and vigorous. Long. Lively cherry fruit." - 18/20 JR

2022
"A perfect mid lemon expression, the nose is sublime with dancing stones, and such a dynamic freshness. Wonderful finesse with its pure and balanced fruit throughout, extends so far on the back of the palate and treads with such a light touch. Drink from 2028-2038. Tasted Jun 2024." - 5/5 stars & 95 pts, Jasper Morris MW

2020
"The 2020 Chablis Les Fourneaux 1er Cru presents a complex nose of citrus peel, red apple and crushed limestone, plus traces of white peach and a very light pastry/millefeuille scent. The palate is well balanced, taut and linear, with a saline entry. It gains weight and depth toward the finish and leaves lip-smacking salinity on the aftertaste. Excellent." - 91-93pts Vinous

2020 Montee de Tonnerre
Montee de Tonnerre ---- "The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is another notable success for Samuel Billaud this year. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, citrus oil, white currants, freshly baked bread and beeswax, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered mid-palate underpinned by racy acids, concluding with a long, saline finish." - 93+pts WA ---- "Billaud noted that this will also have about 20% wood in the final blend. A restrained, elegant and pure nose displays notes of various floral influences, citrus and mineral reduction. The refined but almost painfully intense medium-bodied flavors exhibit a lovely sense of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the impressively long and well-balanced finale. Lovely." - 91-94pts/Sweet Spot Outstanding BH
2020 Mont de Milieu
"Billaud noted that this will have about 20% wood in the final blend. Here too there is a vague whiff of the exotic to the aromas of passion fruit, white peach, mineral reduction and shrimp shell scents. There is again very good density to the intense big-bodied flavors that possess a caressing but muscular finish that coats the palate. This is already showing fine complexity and overall, is a wine that should amply repay extended bottle aging." - 94pts TA & 91pts/Sweet Spot Outstanding, BH

2021 Sechet V.V.
Sechet V.V. comes from a .60 ha holding of 80+ year old vines ---- "This is also aromatically cool and restrained with its overtly citrus-suffused aromas of ripe white orchard fruit, iodine and ocean breeze. There is borderline painful intensity to the dense, sappy and markedly stony flavors that conclude in a strikingly long, moderately dry and well-balanced finale. This is packed with potential and should prove to be especially long-lived. This beauty is first-rate Séchet." - Sweet Spot Outstanding, Burghound

2021 Grand Cru
18.5/20 Jancis Robinson MW
$180.00 Stock14
"Lovely density and richness, with a nose showing ripe apricots, a hint of lemon peel and just a bit of butter. The texture is creamy and dense but not lacking in tension. Regal, substantial, but always elegant. This is made with the white grapes from the Senard monopole of the Clos des Meix, now biodynamically farmed. It is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Beurrot (Pinot Gris). The wine is rather quickly pressed and vinified without sulphur until the malolactic fermentation is complete. Ageing is in 350-litre casks (half new)." - 96pts, Charles Curtis MW

2010
"Relatively strong reduction dominates the nose at present and prevents a thorough assessment. By contrast, there is good freshness and ample verve to the exceptionally rich, powerful and borderline massive flavors that enjoy support in the form of a very concentrated mid-palate and a notably firm tannic spine that imparts a chewy texture to the hugely long, mouth coating and tannic finish. This is breathtakingly good though like any self-respecting Clos du Roi, to note that it will need plenty of bottle age is largely superfluous.' - 92-95pts BH

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin
"A touch of flint plays on the nose that also carries ripe black cherry. The palate comes with vivid, expressive juiciness that holds real freshness - almost as of dew - at its heart. There is a lovely lightness of touch and yet every nuance of fruit and smooth tannins are done justice." - 94pts, Falstaff
