2017 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Croix Rameau
From 0.202 hectares of 40 year old vines on clayey-sand and a Bajocian limestone bed; Croix Rameau is the smallest 1er cru in Vosne-Romanee, just .6 hectares located in the north-east corner against the pillar and cross erected by the monks of the Abbey of St Vivant also honoring JeanPhilippe Rameau renowned for his sacred music. The site is surrounded on 3 sides by Romanee St. Vivant! There is a movement afoot among the growers here to have the site re-designated as part of that great Grand Cru. Should this occur, the wines grown here will instantly double in price. "Transparent garnet. Very pretty, lively, blackcurrant and cranberry nose with admirable freshness. (I am tasting this in high temperatures so have chilled the bottle.) Light but definitely present tannins. I'd say this wine is only just ready to drink and will develop still more complexity. Admirably vivacity in this wine and a neat, confident finish. Only medium body but really very impressive finish. I think you can taste the superiority of the site." - Jancis Robinson MW

2018 Grand Cru
"The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru includes 30% whole bunch with 80% new oak. It has a backward, bashful bouquet that gradually opens to reveal blackberry, boysenberry and light cassis aromas and wonderful mineralité and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red currant and cranberry fruit on the entry. Linear for a Bonnes-Mares, with outstanding tension and energy on the finish. Stunning." - 95-97pts Vinous

"There is a lovely freshness to the distinctly cool aromas of earth, the sauvage, a plethora of floral elements and essence of red currant. There is terrific vibrancy to the tension-filled medium weight flavors that brim with minerality on the highly refreshing finish that is sufficiently rich and pliant that this could be enjoyed after only a few years of bottle age. A quality Fixin villages that is worth checking out." - Outstanding Top Value, Burghound

70yr old vines ---- "Bursting with aromas of red berries, peonies and orange rind, the 2020 Fixin Vieilles Vignes is medium-bodied, bright and charming, with melting tannins and a long, fragrant finish. It was vinified with some 70% whole bunches this year." - 89-91 WA ---- "An overtly floral nose combines notes of cool and nicely pure red and dark currant, newly turned earth and a hint of crushed fennel. There is both good tension and detail to the energetic middle weight flavors that also exude a lovely minerality on the youthfully austere and sneaky long finale." - BH
