After having lived abroad in Europe for two years, Pacific Northwest Natives Stewart and Athena Boedecker returned home to found Boedecker Cellars in Oregon’s revered Willamette Valley. After five years spent honing their craft at the Carlton Winemaker’s Studio in Carlton, Oregon, they built their winery in the heart of industrial Northwest Portland just a stone’s throw from downtown and yet just 40 minutes from the vineyards– where they continue to make their acclaimed wines from Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
2011 Mahonia Vineyard
Evesham Wood was founded by Russ and Mary Raney in 1986. Their main sources of inspiration and advice have come from two of Burgundy's top small producers: the legendary Henri Jayer (Vosne-Romanée), and Michel Niellon (Chassagne-Montrachet).Bright red and black cherry, earthy mushroom with a firm texture and savory umami on the finish. 130 cases produced.
"The 2012 Pinot Noir Outcrop comes from vines located higher than the Sisters Vineyard, on a tier of basalt that juts out of the hill. It has a wonderful and very expressive bouquet of blackberry, minerals, sandalwood and cloves that is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannin right from the start. This is a little masculine at the moment, clamming in toward the tertiary finish with a long, persistent, marine-influenced aftertaste of Japanese nori coming through. Superb." - 94pts WA
2002 Hollerin' M - 96pts WA
"The 2002 Hollerin’ M Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir (704 cases) is absolutely mind-blowing Pinot, one of the most compelling examples I have ever tasted from Oregon. Deep plum/ruby/purple to the rim, with a glorious perfume of forest floor intermixed with acacia flowers, sweet cherries and plums, as well as hints of pomegranate and blackberries, it cuts a broad swath across the palate. The texture inundates the palate, and it finishes with tremendous voluptuousness and purity. A great hedonistic treat for all the senses, it will provide immense pleasure over the next decade." - 96pts WA
1998 Shea Vineyard, Oregon
"The 1998 Veiled Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard is outstanding. It reveals the vintage's strengths in its medium ruby color, attractive, sweet, plum, rose petal, black cherry fruit, and smoky-scented nose. Medium-bodied with outstanding concentration and sweetness in the mid-palate, elegance and balance." - WA
