2002 Bricco Visette
"Barolo has ancient origins. Documents testify to the growing of Nebbiolo in the Visette area as long ago as the XII century, when the Saracen invasions advanced inland into Piedmont from the Ligurian coast. These influences led to the old centre of the village of Monforte being named "Saracca." The name Visette itself comes from the local dialect word for the vine, "vis." Made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Visette (Bussia) area of Monforte d’Alba." - Ghisolfi

2014 Barbaresco
"Compared to the Tre Stelle, the 2014 Barbaresco Rio Sordo seems to have a slightly riper quality of fruit. The difference is minimal but it makes sense given that the heat during the 2014 vintage all came toward the very end of the growing season. This beautiful wine is bold and slightly more robust with dark cherry and red currant. It is also more marked in terms of tannins and structure. Only 1,500 bottles were made." - 91pts WA & 94pts WE

2018 Pelaverga Basadone
Pelaverga Basadone -- Some of the Castello di Verduno wines have a drawing of a flower found in the wine's vineyards. The Pelaverga label has a drawing of poppies which are called Basadone in local dialect (papavero in Italian). Basadone in dialect also means a little kiss - local tradition has it that Pelaverga is an aphrodesiac!

2010 Langhe Nebbiolo
Just what the world needs - early-drinking Nebbiolo! This is made in a full, friendly, modern style. Freshness and lightlly textured tannin keep it distinctly Italian. Although big and fruit-driven, bright acidity provides nice delineation to the fruit. This is sort of a teenager - it definitely suggests the power of Nebbiolo but is completely approachable, unlike3 a very young Barolo.

Franz Gojer is a master of Schiava and Lagrein. These two varietals which find their homes in the northern reaches of the Alto Adige are about as far from the mainstream as you can get, but each is a truly unique and vibrant example of the best that this mountainous region can produce. Lagrein, on the other hand, is cut from a bigger and darker cloth. A cousin of Syrah, its deep brambly base notes and core of black fruit are all balanced by an underlying mountain acidity and minerality imparted by the soils and climate of the region. -- The Lagrein Granat is sourced from vineyards in the town of Ora, about 30 minutes south of Bolzano. The soil here is alluvial thought it has some porphyry as well. Aged in large botti, this is beautifully made, blanced Lagrein that is delicious on release but has the potential to improve over time as well. -- 13% alcohol.
