A first of its kind here at Johan, Maceration gives us the ability to blend and create a unique, singular expression of some of our distinct varietals grown in our vineyard. A majority of the wine is Grüner Veltliner left on its skins for 21 days. It was then aged in neutral barrels - with one barrel filled with all Grüner, and the other half filled with Grüner and Ribolla Gialla. We also took it a step further by blending in juice of Kerner and St. Laurent. Apricot in color and herbaceous on the nose and pallet, it's a refreshing take on a white wine blend.

2017 Drueskall Willamette Vly.
Drueskall Willamette Vly. -- For the Pinot Gris "Drueskall," we ferment our fruit in multiple lots, utilizing whole berry fermentation, whole cluster fermentation, and carbonic maceration in different proportions depending on the vintage. The wine is in contact with the skins between 21 and 45 days, before barreling down for ~18 months. This multi-lot approach to "orange" Pinot Gris results in a wine with an assertive structure of tannin and acid, with detailed and exotic aromatics.

2010 The Uncarved Block
The Uncarved Block Deviously intoned burlesque red. Ripe Montmorency cherries and Crimson roses greet you at the threshold - nostrils flare. Heady aromas of freshly pitted pie cherries, cinnamon, baking spice and Darjeeling tea are supported by a lithe and ever maneuvering body. Restraint and control are ever present, however the palate is transcendent through layers of fruit expression and stem tannins within the firm garter of acidity. - Amalie Robert Estate Tasting Notes

2016 Sheridan Vyd., Yakima Valley
Since 1992, Powers Winery has produced wines from some of the finest vineyards in Washington State's Columbia Valley and beyond. Winemaker Greg Powers oversees these grapes from vine to bottle, producing wines of character and distinction. While much of their production is from their estate vineyards in Columbia Valley, they do make small quantities of Reserve Cabernets from outside appellations, such as Yakima Valley where the Sheridan Vineyard resides. As stated above, they are "vine to bottle", meaning they do not simply purchase fruit from these growers, but instead lease plots and work the vineyards themselves from prune, to bud break, to harvest. Their "Sheridan Vyd Reserve" is very small production, with no more than 550 cases made in an abundant vintage. In recent years they have not submitted their wines for review as each vintage sells out quickly without scores, and they see no reason to increase interest in the wine further when they already cannot fulfill the existing demand. However, wines made by other producers that source from the Sheridan Vyd have received as high as 99 points from Wine Advocate! This wine is a true gem of Washington State, and furthermore, I would say that if the label said "Napa" instead of "Yakima" this bottle would easily sell for three-to-four times the price!!

1999
"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes from the Santa Cruz Mountain estate, and it follows its big brother Monte Bello's style with a terrific sense of elegance paired with richness. Lots of crème de cassis, crushed violets, vanilla, tobacco leaf, and cedar notes flow to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, layered Cabernet Sauvignon that has terrific purity, building tannins, and a great finish. It offers pleasure today yet won't hit prime time for another 5-7 years, and it's going to evolve for 15-20 years (probably longer)." - 94+pts JD -- "Once again an overachiever, Ridge's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is regal. Aromatically intense and deep on the palate, the 2016 proves to be utterly captivating from the very first taste. Dark fruit, chocolate, licorice, dried flowers, leather and menthol infuse the 2016 with remarkable complexity. In 2016, the last year of the drought cycle Ridge made one of the very best editions of this wine. Just as remarkably, the 2016 is incredibly harmonious for such a young wine." - 94pts Vinous

"**Two Stars** Deeply fruited, generously oaked and well-focused on varietal spice, the latest HDV bottling gets right to the richness that is inherent in the grape without making any sacrifice to excessive ripeness. It is big but supple and polished in feel, and it shows plentiful extract, yet its sense of refinement remains all the way to the end, its tannins notwithstanding. So neatly crafted, in fact, that it can be enjoyed soon with a juicy rack of lamb, it is a quite ageworthy wine with a future that is at least as attractive as its wholly compelling present. It need not be drunk any time soon." - 92pts Connoisseurs Guide (Tasted 11/2006)
