What a wonderful story...and here is a chance to own a bit of Bordeaux history. Allary is a tiny 1.3ha plot in the heart of the Haut Brion vineyard. The wine is stunning. Made from 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The property had been owned by the Allary family since 1919. From 1954 until 1978, it was bottled under the name La Passion Haut-Brion, but new French laws forbade making two château wines in the same cellar, unless owned by the same people, so from 1979 to 2007, Haut-Brion blended the wine into their second wine, Bahans Haut-Brion. The Allary family regained control of their plots in 2006 and this, the 2008 bottling was their first commercial vintage, with Stephane Derenoncourt as consultant. The vineyard was sold to Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2012.

"Early in this wine's life, it tasted precocious and forward for the normally tannic, hard wines of the vintage. However, this wine has now firmed up, and it should turn out to be the longest-lived Beychevelle of the seventies. Dark ruby, with a ripe, spicy, leather-and-black currant-scented bouquet, this full-bodied, weighty, muscular Beychevelle is atypically powerful. Whether it will ever resolve all the tannins remains debatable." - WA, 1/98

A fullwide attack then silky sensations with soft tannins. A very dense, full-bodied structure with a
finish packed full of fruit.
A particularly long finish, leaving a very lasting, distinct ‘physical’ impression in the mouth.

This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot is hand-harvested and vinified and aged in oak barrels, about 50% new. Shows a sexy, vanilla- and tobacco-inflected nose that follows through with dark fruit flavors on the elegant, long finish. Old-school flavors, old-school price. In a region where foreign investors rule, it is quite impressive to find a new, small, family-owned and operated winery. The Trocard family discovered that their grandparents small estate had six hectare in Pessac-Leognan! Jean Trocard invested in the family farm, planted vines and revamped the estate. With his experience at other estates, he is now crafting an exceptional Pessac-Leognan with finesse, spice and body. He green harvests to keep yields down and harvests by hand. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (50% new). The wine is already delicious and shows great aging potential.

Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois. The estate is situated next to the commune of St. Estephe and borders the Gironde River, a moderating influence, helping the grapes achieve optimal ripeness. Considered by critics to be one of the most consistent Cru Bourgeois estates in the past 10-15 years. The estate is planted 48% Merlot, 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc & 2% Petit Verdot. This wine is entering its prime drinking window & has flavors of red & black berries, a whiff of cedar, it is medium-bodied and well-structured.
Class and pleasure meet in Pomerol. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged in 50% new and 50% old barrique. The red fruit aromas follow through a mouth-filling mid-palate and a velvety finish. Frédéric Leydet runs the family estates (Leydet-Valentin and Chateau de Valois) which span two appellations: Pomerol and Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. Passed down through the generations, Frederic’s father Bernard Leydet began running these estates in 1962 with only a few hectares. By the time of his death in 2005 they had each grown substantially, 8.87 hectares in Saint Emilion and 7.78 hectares in Pomerol. Frédéric was born and raised at the property and after studying vine growing and oenology came to work at the estate in 1996. Now he is 100% in charge of the two estates
