2016
"The Salicutti 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione draws its fruit from a small 1.2-hectare parcel that sits a little lower in altitude on this beautiful bijou estate. Piaggione is one of the historic single-vineyard wines made here, and its personality is generous, open knit and elegant. The oak is well integrated and the wine offers taut, fresh and pure fruit intensity. There are bright berry and sour cherry aromas with blue flower, rosemary and a touch of crushed stone. Production for this pretty wine is 7,760 bottles." - 95pts WA

It is made up of 90% Nebbiolo “Picotendro” and the remainder of the more mature clusters of Ner d'Ala and Neretti. The grapes are heated under the sun to ensure a quick start of fermentation which takes place in steel and wood. Each vineyard is vinified separately. Maceration lasts an average of 90 days. The refinement, always separated by vineyard, is carried out in used wood (500 and 225 liters). Not filtered.

""Wow. Fantastic aromas of blackberries, currants, minerals, violets and graphite. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are incredibly polished and intense, yet ever so refined and integrated in the wine. It goes on for minutes. The is one of the best modern-day Orenos so far. Best in 2025 and onwards." - 99pts JS

2018 Toscana
"The 2018 Al Passo is another appealing wine in the Tolaini range. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon work well together in this blend. Bright and punchy, the 2018 bristles with energy from start to finish. Ripe red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, mint and blood orange build effortlessly." - 93pts Antonio Galloni, Vinous

2010 Tenuta Montebello IGT
"A compelling blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the 2010 Picconero Tenuta Montebello packs a powerful punch in terms of density and concentration. This expression is rich and chewy with dark cherry and blackberry as protagonist. Solid supporting roles are played by tobacco, spice and bitter dark chocolate. The 2010 vintage shows a superior sense of finesse and silkiness in the mouth. Picconero can be put aside for long cellar aging." - 94pts WA

"This wine represents a blend of fruit from four villages: Monforte d'Alba (the San Giovanni vineyard); La Morra (Berri and Boiolo); Verduno (Castagni); and Novello (Cerviano Merli and Sottocastello di Novello). The Virna 2016 Barolo Noi is a dark and expressive wine with an exuberant level of fruit. This blended Barolo is plush and round, or vitally void of the tannic astringency you see in some of its peers. A 20,000-bottle release, this is the quintessential medium-term Barolo to enjoy with grilled pork or lamb chops." - 92pts Wine Advocate
