2019 Howell Mountain
Howell Mountain ---- "Sporting a deep purple-black color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon needs a little coaxing to begin, soon unfurling to reveal notions of crushed black cherries, wild blueberries and fresh blackcurrant, plus suggestions of tar, wet slate, fertile loam and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with wonderful energy, delivering loads of black fruit layers and a firm, grainy frame plus and lively backbone, finishing long and mineral laced. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)" - 94-96+ WA

2009 Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard -- "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard flows with the essence of mint, licorice, black cherries and flowers. It is a deep, muscular wine endowed with terrific richness and depth. Crushed rocks, graphite, minerals, smoke and tar are some of the many nuances that emerge on the dark, voluptuous finish. This seamless, pure wine is simply dazzling. The 2009 is the first Las Piedras from Paul Hobbs. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029." - 96pts WA

2008 Stagecoach Vineyard
Stagecoach Vineyard -- "Inky purple. Potent, liqueur-like aromas of cherry-vanilla and cassis, with an array of floral and spice notes adding complexity. Pliant and silky in the mouth, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a touch of candied rose; manages to be both ripe and vivacious, thanks to strong peppery spices and minerality. Tannins make a late arrival and add structure and depth to the seductively sweet fruit, which doesn't let up on the finish." - 93pts Vinous
2004 Beckstoffer To Kalon
"Hobbs was one of the first to recognize the brilliance of Oakville’s Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard, and he has produced several wines that were either perfect, or pushing perfection. This 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard reveals that haunting, almost indescribable bouquet of red and black fruits, spring flowers, and subtle hint of lead pencil shavings that aromatically blows away the taster. If one could have a 100-point bouquet, this is it. Moreover, the flavors don’t let the taster down. Nearly as powerful and rich as the 2002, this full-bodied 2004 is a glorious, classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that has been flawlessly vinified. The enormity of the mid-palate, texture and skyscraper-like mouthfeel with no heaviness result in a prodigious effort that is one of the top four or five wines of the vintage. This spectacular wine can be drunk now or cellared for another two decades." - 99pts WA

2016 Sheridan Vyd., Yakima Valley
Since 1992, Powers Winery has produced wines from some of the finest vineyards in Washington State's Columbia Valley and beyond. Winemaker Greg Powers oversees these grapes from vine to bottle, producing wines of character and distinction. While much of their production is from their estate vineyards in Columbia Valley, they do make small quantities of Reserve Cabernets from outside appellations, such as Yakima Valley where the Sheridan Vineyard resides. As stated above, they are "vine to bottle", meaning they do not simply purchase fruit from these growers, but instead lease plots and work the vineyards themselves from prune, to bud break, to harvest. Their "Sheridan Vyd Reserve" is very small production, with no more than 550 cases made in an abundant vintage. In recent years they have not submitted their wines for review as each vintage sells out quickly without scores, and they see no reason to increase interest in the wine further when they already cannot fulfill the existing demand. However, wines made by other producers that source from the Sheridan Vyd have received as high as 99 points from Wine Advocate! This wine is a true gem of Washington State, and furthermore, I would say that if the label said "Napa" instead of "Yakima" this bottle would easily sell for three-to-four times the price!!
