2013
"This is also absolutely stunning in every respect and displays a kaleidoscopic combination that is not quite as spicy as the Clos St. Denis though it is earthier and almost as complex. It is immediately clear that this is a bigger and more powerful wine that possesses outstanding mid-palate density and a huge reserve of dry extract that imparts a seductive mouth feel and mostly buffers the exceptionally firm tannic spine on the massively long finish. This is an imposing effort that is even more imposingly structured and there is no point in buying this if you're not prepared to forget it in the back of your cellar for at least a decade, and two to three would be preferable. This is a stunner of a Clos de la Roche and it will be interesting to see which of the two Ponsot big boys is ultimately the better wine." - 94-97pts/Don't Miss! Burghound

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru
"The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny is also quite tightly wound after its recent bottling. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, plums, licorice, spices and orange rind, it's framed by a touch of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with an incipiently fleshy but tightly wound core of fruit, this is showing a touch more structure than I would have anticipated from barrel, so it's clear that patience will be required." - 94+pts WA

2010
"Discreet wood sets off a wonderfully elegant, airy and ultra-pure though quite ripe red pinot fruit nose that displays plenty of wet stone, floral and earth influences. The silky but firm large-scaled flavors are blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the firm and ripe supporting tannins on the moderately austere, persistent and palate coating finish. Like all of the 2010s in the Trapet range, this is quite understated and beautifully balanced though note again that plenty of patience will be required." - 94pts Burghound
