2016 Sheridan Vyd., Yakima Valley
Since 1992, Powers Winery has produced wines from some of the finest vineyards in Washington State's Columbia Valley and beyond. Winemaker Greg Powers oversees these grapes from vine to bottle, producing wines of character and distinction. While much of their production is from their estate vineyards in Columbia Valley, they do make small quantities of Reserve Cabernets from outside appellations, such as Yakima Valley where the Sheridan Vineyard resides. As stated above, they are "vine to bottle", meaning they do not simply purchase fruit from these growers, but instead lease plots and work the vineyards themselves from prune, to bud break, to harvest. Their "Sheridan Vyd Reserve" is very small production, with no more than 550 cases made in an abundant vintage. In recent years they have not submitted their wines for review as each vintage sells out quickly without scores, and they see no reason to increase interest in the wine further when they already cannot fulfill the existing demand. However, wines made by other producers that source from the Sheridan Vyd have received as high as 99 points from Wine Advocate! This wine is a true gem of Washington State, and furthermore, I would say that if the label said "Napa" instead of "Yakima" this bottle would easily sell for three-to-four times the price!!

2019 Columbia Valley
"Flirting with perfection, instantly impressive and marked with impeccable shine and polish, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon from Champoux vineyard (90%) and Mach One vineyard (10%). The Cabernet explodes out of a glass with exuberance and power, prancing with layers of juicy black fruit, plum compote, black raspberry jus and hints of cinnamon-spiced black cherries. Full-bodied and with a ripe attack, velvety tannins sway with a glossy mouthfeel that is seductive and hedonistic, and the wine displays a balanced structure with a generous frame. It somersaults to an ever-evolving finish that bursts with layers of complexity, finesse and richness. What a stunning bottle! Bravo! Two thumbs up! Only 4,125 cases were made for the world." - 99pts WA ""Quilceda Creek's Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is once again a spectacular release of this legendary Washington wine. Sourced from Champoux and Mach One vineyards, this begins to impress with its extremely attractive aromas of ripe dark cherries, currants and plums, which are accompanied by lovely nuances of violets, baking spices, savory herbs, gravel, and damp earth characteristics all taking shape. The palate is every bit as stunning, boasting a gorgeous full-body that is structured with beautifully polished, fine-grained tannins that are nicely integrated. Displaying wonderful overall balance and concentration along with remarkable purity and craftsmanship, the 2019 has it all. This is one of the finest vintages of the Columbia Valley Cabernet that I have had the chance to taste. Even at this infant stage this is an absolute knockout and it is certainly destined for a brilliant evolution ahead." - 100pts J.D'Angelo, International Wine Report, March, 2022

2019 Santa Rita Hills Cuvee
"The 2019 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills cuvée is a wonderful wine and a terrific introduction to the Racines Chardonnays. Creamy and layered in the glass, the 2019 has so much to offer. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks lend brightness and energy. The Sta. Rita Hills cuvée is one of the hidden gems in the range. Vineyard sources are mostly Wenzlau with a touch of Domaine de la Côte." - 92pts Vinous

2020 Santa Rita Hills Cuvee
"The 2020 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Cuvée is a terrific introduction to the range. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, rose petal and a touch of whole cluster savoriness are all beautifully delineated. This is such a gorgeous and expressive Pinot." - 93pts Vinous

2020 La Rinconada
"The 2020 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard is a potent, searing wine. Bright red-toned fruit, minerals, crushed rocks, white pepper and iron all race across the palate. I find the stems overpowering to the degree that site character is masked. This austere, reticent Pinot will need a number of years to come together. It's a very good wine, but one that could have been and should have been better." - 93pts Vinous

2019 Sanford & Benedict
Sanford & Benedict ---- "A rich, effusive wine, the 2019 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict offers a stunning expression of this site. All the classic S&B signatures come through, kicked up with an extra touch of textural richness. Creamy and silky in the glass, the 2019 is outrageously beautiful. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and tangerine oil are some of the many notes that build in a soft, silky Chardonnay that dazzles from start to finish. Impressive." - 96pts Vinous

2020 Wenzlau Family Vineyard
Wenzlau Family Vineyard ---- "The 2020 Chardonnay Wenzlau Family Vineyard is one of the highlights in this range from Racines. Bright and dynamic, the 2020 is fresh, complex and also quite structured, making for a wonderfully complete wine that captures the essence of this rugged Sta. Rita Hills site. Readers should expect an intensely mineral, savory Chardonnay. I loved it." - 94pts, Vinous
