Silky texture and lovely discreet tannins. The whole refreshed by juicy acidity and a rich, ripe finish. Lovely and quite joyous." 16.5/20 Jancis

"From three sites of vines purchased in 1930: Les Plantes du Bois, La Dominode and La Julbigne. Average vine age >70 years. 30% whole clusters, 40% new oak. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Wild strawberry and forest fruits, and just a touch denser than Les Esssards. Richness on the palate and fine tannins to fill out the back palate. "Half new wood and 40% whole bunch. Bright ruby purple. Little bouquet as yet, and the samples are cold. At the moment the density of the wine shows more than the subtlety, though I think that the detail is certainly there. More in red fruit than black. Sweet compact fruit and all very balanced. Lovely, sweet but refined tannins enveloping evidently rich, rounded fruits on the palate. Charming and just veering towards hedonistic." - 16.5/20 Jancis

"From four parcels of vines and a total of 1.4 ha (3.5 acres): Les Chambrées, Les Fleurières, Les Longecourts and Les Charbonnières. All on red, iron-rich clay. 40% whole clusters, 60% new oak. Cask sample. Dark ruby. Slightly inky nose with strawberry and a touch of cassis. A touch of gas from the fermentation, which will soon dissipate, and a quite fizzing acidity. Lots of spice and savoury character. Tannins well integrated." - 16.5/20 Jancis
