2017 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Croix Rameau
From 0.202 hectares of 40 year old vines on clayey-sand and a Bajocian limestone bed; Croix Rameau is the smallest 1er cru in Vosne-Romanee, just .6 hectares located in the north-east corner against the pillar and cross erected by the monks of the Abbey of St Vivant also honoring JeanPhilippe Rameau renowned for his sacred music. The site is surrounded on 3 sides by Romanee St. Vivant! There is a movement afoot among the growers here to have the site re-designated as part of that great Grand Cru. Should this occur, the wines grown here will instantly double in price. "Transparent garnet. Very pretty, lively, blackcurrant and cranberry nose with admirable freshness. (I am tasting this in high temperatures so have chilled the bottle.) Light but definitely present tannins. I'd say this wine is only just ready to drink and will develop still more complexity. Admirably vivacity in this wine and a neat, confident finish. Only medium body but really very impressive finish. I think you can taste the superiority of the site." - Jancis Robinson MW

"This is the first wine in the range to display reductive notes and while I expect that they are largely due to the very recent bottling, I would suggest decanting this if you're going to crack a bottle in the next 12 months or so. Otherwise there is once again an attractive sleekness to the precise and vibrant medium weight flavors that brim with minerality that really comes to the fore on the impressively complex and persistent finish that is somewhat linear at present. I would expect this to flesh out with bottle age." - 92pts Burghound

2022 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes
"70% whole bunch, gently extracted with only one punch down at the very end. Mid purple. Not much nose. Rich deep fruit on the palate, medium bodied with raspberries, easily accessible, then balanced by an attractive touch of acidity. Little pinpricks of fresh raspberry to finish. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: November 2023." - 4/5 stars Jasper Morris MW
