"An extraordinarily spicy, fresh and ripe nose features notes of dark pinot fruit, floral, sandalwood and exotic pekoe tea. There is excellent phenolic maturity to the supporting structure that is remarkably fine-grained which adds to the overall sense of refinement present on the delicious yet powerful and altogether serious middle weight plus flavors that terminate in a gorgeously persistent finish. Like the Clos de Vougeot this is going to require ample cellaring for it to reveal its full, and considerable, potential." - 94pts Burghound

"A discreet application of wood does not reduce the considerable appeal of the ripe, pure and airy nose with its broad mélange of wild red berry fruit liqueur, earth, spice, violets and a hint of animale. The broad-shouldered flavors possess superb mid-palate concentration that enrobes the buried but still quite firm tannins while culminating in a beautifully balanced, muscular and explosively long finish. This is also very clearly built to age yet like the Clos St. Denis, there is so much sap that this could be drunk now with pleasure. A 'wow' wine." - 95-97pts/Don't Miss! Burghound

2019 Clos St. Denis
Clos St. Denis ---- "The 2019 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is made with 100% whole bunches and matured in used oak this year and that is evident on the nose with open, transparent scents of blackberry, briary and crushed rock aromas. Less opulent than the Clos de la Roche, this is slightly more austere but no less captivating. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, great depth and cohesion, structured towards the finish with touches of melted tar and tobacco. Superb." - 95-97pts Vinous

"Deep ruby color. A very ripe yet wonderfully fresh and expressive nose features notes of cassis, plum, black cherry and a broad array of spice nuances. There is a highly seductive mouth feel to the velvet-textured, powerful and robust big-bodied flavors that display plenty of minerality and drive on the exceptionally persistent finish. It's relatively rare that Ponsot's Chapelle surpasses his Griotte but in 2012 it appears to have just a bit more depth of material. We will of course see in time but this certainly appears very promising." - 92-95pts/Don't Miss! Burghound
