2010 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru
Description of the plot : Located south of the village on the edge of Chambolle, below Clos de Tart and Les Bonnes Mares. Situated in the valley bottom, the plot is sheltered from the cold north winds and enjoys a microclimate which enables good grape maturity. For those just getting to know Burgundy wines, Magnien is a masterful guide, as he offers an unparalleled selection of wines from the region's finest vineyards. Yet for Burgundy connoisseurs, Magnien is the benchmark for exploring the characteristics of grand and premier cru wines: the licorice of Chambertin, the incense of Morey "Ruchots," the orange essence of Échezeaux. The signature of Magnien Burgundy is the perfumes and tastes of late summer -- dark, ripe plums and sweet, concentrated blackberries, cooled by the laurel-tinged air of the forest.

2015 1er Cru Clos Sorbe
The plot is situated under the village of Morey-Saint-Denis between "Les Sorbès" and "Le Clos Baulet". The vines face east and soils are composed of clay and limestone marl with white pebbles. This wine fits perfectly with roasted red meat or in sauce. Tasting Note: A melange of rich black cherries and blackberries, with raspberry highlights, floral nuances, spice and a bit of bramble. Wisps of black licorice and a hint of game emerge. It's still young but now revealing its richness, intensity and length.

"Ample cherry, raspberry, floral and spice flavors mark this succulent red. Tightly wound, this offers a solid structure, with a mix of grape and oak tannins imparting density on the long finish." - 94pts WS

"Reduction presently flattens the underlying fruit. Otherwise there is a really lovely texture to the medium weight plus flavors thanks to the abundance of mid-palate sap that coats the mouth and buffers the moderately firm, complex and lingering finish where a touch of wood emerges. This is very Charmes in style and like the Echézeaux, it should be approachable after 6 to 8 years if desired." - 91-94pts Burghound

"A notably spicy and attractively floral-suffused nose features notes of plum, rose petal, violets and ripe red currants. There is a seductive texture to the openly rich and generously proportioned flavors that retain a lovely sense of vibrancy on the lightly mineral-inflected finish that delivers both fine depth and length. This is a relatively refined Ech thanks to the fine grain of the supporting tannins." - 92-94pts Burghound
