"From a 0.25-hectare parcel planted in 1942, the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains unwinds in the glass with scents of plums, cassis and loamy soil that are framed by a generous application of creamy new oak. Full-bodied, layered and muscular, with a textural attack and a deep, concentrated core, this is a serious, rather old-school Vaucrains that will demand patience. Lavaux St. Jacques ---- "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques bursts from the glass with a stunning bouquet of orange rind, peonies, ripe wild berries, cassis, exotic spices and espresso roast, framed by a beautifully integrated application of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and multidimensional, with ripe acids, a deep and concentrated core and a long, sapid finish. This is one of the riper wines in the cellar, with just over 13% natural alcohol, but it's beautifully balanced." - 94-96pts WA

"A wonderfully elegant and expressive nose combines a plethora of floral wisps with those of anise and clove-inflected red currant scents. The rich and nicely voluminous middle weight flavors exude a bracing minerality on the refined, delineated and sneaky long finish that flashes outstanding depth. 2017  Gevrey-Chambertin

"The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is also very expressive, bursting with aromas of orange rind, peony and wild berries. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, pure and satiny, with a layered mid-palate, good depth and concentration and an elegant, fragrant profile. Mortet opted to manually cut out the central stems for one-quarter of this cuvée, retaining the pedicels." - 90-93pts WA

"The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru includes 30% whole bunch with 80% new oak. It has a backward, bashful bouquet that gradually opens to reveal blackberry, boysenberry and light cassis aromas and wonderful mineralité and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red currant and cranberry fruit on the entry. Linear for a Bonnes-Mares, with outstanding tension and energy on the finish. Stunning." - 95-97pts Vinous
